We often get requests for just florals, and that’s exactly why we have three creative floral designers on board. When we were approached with a Harry Potter themed Mitzvah, we were excited to oblige. The client requested only that we make the designs perfect, which gave us a lot of creative freedom to explore and make them just that; perfect.
Knowing the event would largely revolve around the aesthetic of the Harry Potter films our lead floral designer on this project, John Berry, did a little research. Finding that most of the table centerpieces in the film were food arrangements one of our key elements became kale. With deep colors and ruffled layers, it pairs well with so many things, including a plant informally known as Kangaroo Paws. We always enjoy incorporating whimsy into florals with oddly shaped and strangely named flowers!
There was no formula to the arrangements, it was mostly intuition and sorcery that brought these lovely centerpieces together. Using a variety of colors and textures made each piece feel like it had a lot of visual flavors, adding so much more interest to each table. To accent the larger centerpieces, we included many small arrangements featuring fluff and a little taste of everything. Incorporating the house colors across all of the arrangements made them feel cohesive to the overall event design, organized by Jalene Buckner of Top Notch Events. We were very happy to be a part of this magical night.
